Do you know that?
From your perspective, it's very clear: In your previous roles, you were the superstar! No project can be successful without you. If you don't hire you, it's your own fault.
What is the reason for that?
This is due to egocentric bias
We have no choice but to look at the world from our own eyes. This results in that we often overestimate our own perspective.
For example, we are more likely to attribute fair behavior to ourselves, whereas we are more likely to attribute unfair behavior to others. In addition People regularly rate their own share of group work higher than that of the rest of the participants.
Exciting: People raised bilingually are less susceptible for egocentric bias. This could be because bilingualism has taught them to pay more attention to other thoughts.
